The Florence River Heritage fountain is an interactive, musical fountain located on a Riverbank Development between Florence and Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
The fountain has several shows created especially for children’s safety and enjoyment in mind. It also has 15 choreographed musical shows that can be scheduled for any desired time intervals. Songs were chosen to reflect the rich musical heritage of the region by only selecting music that was originally recorded by artists in Florence studios.
The fountain has a total of eight display pumps, eight ground illuminating, theatrical, DMX controlled led lights located on top of the perimeter columns, and a series of white incandescent lights mounted next to the vertical water display nozzles. Four pumps move water to a series of nozzles that form concentric circles and the remaining four pumps form spokes that divide the concentric circles equally. An automatic backwashing sand filter system is in place to respond to a pressure differential switch by initiating a back wash cycle that reverses the flow through the filter vessel and lifts the debris above the filter media bead and forces it out to the municipal sanitary sewer. Multiple valves are linked together to tie the relationship with one common actuator to insure that these valves turn at the same time for both personal and equipment safety. Water quality controls are also in place to ensure public safety when the fountain is in an interactive state.
