Delta Fountains was contracted to design and manufacture the equipment for the 2012 Stanley Cup drinking fountain in Times Square.

The replica fountain was meant to celebrate the Stanley Cup playoffs and to promote New York City's water quality.

The base of the water feature was filled with municipal tap water from the same water source that poured our of the jet nozzles for visitors to drink from.

The concept behind the 21 foot Stanley Cup replica fountain was to design a temporary feature that was entertaining and that could also allow visitors to “drink from the Stanley Cup”, keeping in line with the tradition of drinking champagne from the real cup by the winning team. The city of New York saw this as an opportunity to not only promote the event but to draw attention to the water quality of New York tap water. Patrons were handed promotional cups as they approached the statue and were encouraged to fill their cups and drink directly from the tap. The fountain’s water source was actually fed from a fire hydrant on the corner in Times Square.
